A house with a story
Dar Alandalus was named after Al-Andalus, the old world where Morocco and southern Spain shared their art, their tiles and their arches. The house itself is pure Tamraght: thick walls painted white against the sun, turquoise shutters that catch the sea breeze, and bougainvillea climbing every wall.
Inside, horseshoe arches frame rooms dressed in zellige mosaic, and a salon full of leather poufs and Berber rugs is the place for mint tea, good books and slow afternoons. Every room has its own colour and its own mood, from warm terracotta to cool blue-grey.
The zellige salon
Horseshoe arches held up by zellige-tiled columns, leather poufs on a Berber rug, turquoise windows and brass lanterns. The heart of the house.
The rooms
Ten rooms, each with its own colour, its own light and its own mood. Five are dressed from floor to ceiling in one colour, the others mix Berber blankets, zellige and carved wood.
Terracotta Room
Warm clay walls that glow at the end of the day, a brass lantern throwing lace shadows, soft coral linen. Made for slow mornings and long evenings.
Olive Green Room
Deep green walls, a mosaic lamp and soft wool throws. The coolest place to come back to after a day of sun.
Medium Yellow Room
White walls, mustard pompoms and woven cushions, with a mirror that catches the morning light. Simple, sunny and easy to live in.
Sand Brown Room
Sand tones, carved wood and lamplight. The quietest of them all, and the one guests never want to leave.
Bluish Gray Room
Deep blue-grey walls, a hand-woven cushion with pompoms and a Berber blanket catching the morning light. Calm and cool, like the sea on a quiet day.
Orange & Turquoise Room
Warm clay wall, turquoise door and a brass lamp.
Blue-Grey Double
Berber blanket and a mosaic lamp. Calm and cosy.
Sunny Room
White walls, woven cushions, turquoise window.
Bougainvillea Room
Big terrace with cushions under the flowers.
Courtyard Double
Rug, handmade details, window on the patio.
The rooftop
Sun loungers under a reed shade, Amazigh cushions, leather poufs, and a view over Tamraght all the way to the Atlantic. Breakfast up here, sunset up here, movie nights up here.
Private terraces
A hanging nest swing, cushions under the bougainvillea, and your own piece of sky.
The table
Tagines, couscous, grilled fish, fresh bread and Moroccan salads. Breakfast on the rooftop, dinners all together at the long zellige table.
Life at Dar Alandalus
Evening circles, new friends from everywhere, and the house cat who knows exactly whose lap to choose.
