Why Tamraght is a great place to learn
Tamraght sits between Agadir and Taghazout, on a stretch of coast with long, sandy beach breaks that suit first-timers. Our riad is in the centre of the village, five minutes on foot from the beach, and our coaches drive you each morning to the spot with the softest, safest waves for your level that day: Tamraght beach, Imourane (Devil's Rock), Banana Beach or, on bigger days, sheltered bays further along the coast.
The water stays mild all year and the sun shines on most days, so you can learn in any season. Winter brings more swell for improvers; spring, summer and autumn often have the small, gentle waves beginners love.
What your first week looks like
Day one is about the ocean, not the board: how waves break, currents, safety, and the pop-up practised on the sand until it feels natural. Then you ride the white water, first pushed by your coach and soon on your own. By the middle of the week you are choosing waves and angling along them, and most of our beginners ride their first green, unbroken wave before they leave. See your first surf week, day by day.

You don't have to be sporty
You should be comfortable in the sea, but you don't need to be a strong swimmer or especially fit. You always wear a leash, lessons stay in small groups in the water, and the rest of the day is yours: rooftop, souk, Paradise Valley or a nap.
