Why surf in Tamraght
Tamraght is a small Amazigh village on the Atlantic coast of Morocco, between Agadir and Taghazout. It has everything a surf trip needs and none of the crowds: sandy beach breaks right below the village for beginners, the famous points of the Taghazout bay ten minutes up the road for experienced surfers, warm sun on most days of the year and local cafés where a mint tea still costs a few dirhams.
Within a short drive you have more than a dozen surf spots facing different directions, so on almost every day of the year there is a wave that works for your level. Follow them on our surf report for 16 spots, with the forecast for Tamraght beach, Devil's Rock, Crocro, Banana Point and Anchor Point.
Our surf camp: a family riad, not a hotel
Surf Chill Vibe is a family-run riad in Hay Sarele, in the centre of Tamraght. You sleep in bright rooms around a Moroccan patio, eat breakfast together, and end the day on the rooftop with a view over the ocean. Shared rooms keep the trip affordable and the atmosphere social; private rooms and rooms with a terrace are there if you want more calm. See all the rooms and prices.
We are small on purpose: the team knows every guest by name, the coaches surf here every day, and the kitchen cooks Moroccan home food. Many guests arrive alone and leave with a group of friends.
Surf lessons for every level
Never surfed? You start on the sand with safety, ocean reading and the pop-up, then ride the white water on a soft board with your coach next to you. Most beginners stand up on the first or second day. Read more on our beginner surf camp page.
Already surfing? Our coaches pick the spot that matches the swell and the wind every morning, from the beach breaks of Tamraght and Imourane to the right-hand points of Taghazout on good winter days. Video feedback, guided sessions and board rental are available: see surf lessons in Tamraght and surfing the Taghazout points.

When to come
You can surf in Tamraght all year. From October to April the Atlantic sends the biggest and most regular swells: the best season for intermediate and advanced surfers, with sunny days around 20-25 °C. From May to September the waves are usually smaller and softer, which is perfect to learn, and the evenings on the rooftop are long and warm. The water is cool all year, so a wetsuit is included in every lesson. Plan your dates with our Morocco surf calendar.
A day at the camp
Breakfast on the rooftop (msemen, amlou, eggs, fresh fruit and mint tea), then the van to the spot of the day. You surf in the morning, eat lunch at the beach or back at the riad, and have the afternoon for a second session, a trip to the souk or Paradise Valley, yoga, or a nap in the hammock. In the evening there is the sunset on the rooftop and, if you like, dinner together.
Getting to Tamraght
Fly to Agadir Al Massira airport (AGA), about 45 minutes away by car. We pick you up at the airport or at the Agadir bus station and drive you back on your last day: it is included in every surf trip. Flights to Agadir come from most European cities: see flights to Agadir.
