If you are thinking about surfing Morocco in March, you are picking one of the best months on the Atlantic coast. The winter swells are still pushing through, the weather is warming up, and the crowds remain manageable. We run our surf camp in Tamraght all year, and March is a month we always look forward to. Here is what you need to know about the conditions before you pack your bags.
Weather in March: Sun, Temperatures and What to Wear
March brings spring to Morocco. Daytime air temperatures around Tamraght sit between 20 and 24 degrees Celsius. You get plenty of sun, but the mornings and evenings still feel fresh. A light jacket or a warm jumper is a good idea for early breakfasts on the rooftop.
You will not need heavy winter clothes. Bring board shorts, a couple of t-shirts, and a hoodie for the evening. If you plan to do day trips to the mountains or desert, pack layers. The sun gets strong during the day, so sunscreen is essential.
Surf Conditions in March: Swell and Wind
The best waves in Morocco run from September to April. March sits right in the middle of the prime season. The Atlantic sends consistent groundswell, so you can expect solid waves almost every day.
Mornings usually offer clean conditions with light offshore winds. By afternoon, the wind often turns onshore. Because of this, we schedule surf sessions early. The water stays active, so you get plenty of wave count. You can check the live surf report to see what the coast is doing right now.

Water Temperature and Wetsuits
The Atlantic ocean stays cool in March. Water temperature ranges between 16 and 18 degrees Celsius. You will need a wetsuit.
A 3/2mm wetsuit is fine for most people. If you feel the cold easily, a 4/3mm is a better choice. The water feels fresh when you first paddle out, but you warm up quickly once you start catching waves. If you do not want to travel with your own gear, we offer surfboard and wetsuit rental at the camp.
Best Spots in March: Where to Surf
The coast between Agadir and Taghazout has breaks for all levels. In March, the swells are solid, so picking the right spot matters.
For beginners and intermediates, Tamraght beach offers forgiving waves. It is a five-minute walk from our riad. Devil's Rock is another good option nearby, with a mellow break that works well for longboarders.
Advanced surfers should look at Anchor Point. It handles large swells and offers long, peeling rights. Killer Point is another heavy spot that turns on when the swell is big. Always check the wind and tide before you paddle out, as these spots can get crowded on good days.
If you want a guide to show you the right peaks, we run surf coaching sessions. We drive you to the spot that matches your level and the conditions of the day.
March is a busy time on the coast. We recommend booking your stay early to secure a room. Have a look at our packages and prices or use the build your trip tool to plan your stay with us.
